North Border Families:
Tuesday, December 2โwe will be having internet safety presentations from Jill Krone of the ND BCI. The presentations are grouped by age. These have been coordinated by our school counselor Mr. Flaagan and Pembina County Public Health. These are being held in Walhalla in the morning, and Pembina in the afternoon.
Here is some basic information about the presentations:
The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (ND BCI) will provide age-appropriate educational presentations designed to help students navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. These sessions address key topics such as cyberbullying, sexting, and sextortion, explaining the real-world risks and legal consequences in terms youth can understand. They will also emphasize practical strategies for staying safe online, including protecting personal information, recognizing unsafe or manipulative behavior, and avoiding contact with strangers or unsolicited friend requests on social media. The goal of the program is to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to make safe choices, seek help when needed, and contribute to a positive online environment.
Not all topics will be addressed in every grade. We keep them age appropriate. However, bullying topic is for everyone.
We hope these presentations will be beneficial to our students and your family, and that reinforcing the concepts presented at home will help keep all our kids safer and healthier online.

3-5: 20-25 minutes
6-8: 20-25 minutes
9-12: 20-25 minutes

Walhalla Elementary Grade 6 could hardly wait to meet up with their best buddies again at PNC! After learning the residentsโ favorite channel just so happened to be the animal channel, it was a day all about animals! From learning about scat and animal tracks specific to herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores to finding camouflaged animals in their natural habitats to dissecting real owl pellets, everyone (young and young at heart) enjoyed extreme hands-on learning and, of course, lots of laughter! Thank you to Heather and Kelsey at PNC for always welcoming us with open arms!

Pembina's 8th grade Language Arts engaged in a "Socratic Seminar" today as a unique assessment for their unit, "The Fight for Freedom." The activity emphasized meaningful conversations wherein students had to prep and create their own student-centered conversation on the topic. Nice job, 8th grade!
